Voice lessons are 30 minutes in length and the cost is $25.00.
All students are required to learn a set of vocalises which work on range extension, breath control, enunciation (proper execution of diphthongs and consonants) pitch, and tone.
Students can chose the type of music they wish to pursue, i.e., classical, musical theatre, country, or pop.
All types of music entail not only properly singing the selection, but also the ability to perform it. Performance entails stage presence, expression, microphone technique and choreography, if appropriate.
Honor Choir auditions for area high schools students require students to perform an Italian art song, knowledge of scales, sight reading and tonal recall exercises.
Auditions for musicals require a one-minute or 16-bar audition piece, along with a one-minute monologue in some cases.
The requirements to audition for admittance to theatre and/or music departments at various universities and colleges vary. However, all require at least basic knowledge of music theory and a repertoire of audition pieces.
